Airconditioning

The air conditioning at The Oamaru Opera House is very intelligent and state of the art. If the room does get too hot it will pump out cool air. If you book a seat right underneath the vent and you're sensitive to cool air we do recommend you look at other seats in the auditorium.

Best places to sit

We cannot recommend the best places to sit in the auditorium as it can be a personal preference. If it is your first time booking a seat at The Oamaru Opera House try and book a seat three rows back and as close to the middle as you can. If it's been a while since your last visit to The Oamaru Opera House you can be rest assured that most poles have now been removed.

Lock Outs

Some performances operate a lock out policy which is decided upon by the performance company and enforced by ushers and venue staff. A Lock Out restricts entry into the theatre until a suitable programme pause usually between 5-15 minutes into the performance. Whilst waiting to enter the theatre patrons may watch the performance on the closed circuit television in the foyer. Please ensure parking and travel arrangements are carefully considered before your visit to the Oamaru Opera House to avoid lateness and lock outs.
